PRESENTATION OF THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010

The 16th edition of the World Championships of Pelota will be held in France in October 2010. These championships are organized every four years, the last of which were held in Mexico. 22 nations and over 550 athletes will fight for the 14 world titles. The French team’s goal is to regain the first place in the international rankings. Come and discover a colourful and difficult sport, which has spilled over the borders of the South West of France and has been adopted in all five continents.

Pau, the “capital” of Bearn, Oloron-Sainte-Marie, Lescar and Billère will be the host-cities for the event from October 1st to October 10th.
The region of Bearn was selected for its remarkable sports installations, its accommodation capacity as well as for its way of life and warm welcome.

It is our wish that these 16th World Championships of Pelota 2010 in Bearn should be the perfect blend of modernity and of the popular success it deserves.
